ALESSIO LAROCCHI (From Eleonora Fiorani’s text “Territori del confine”)
“The self is another, and things are also other than themselves: the subject is empty, and things are not what they claim to be. So, what is the image that constitutes the certainty and truth of both the subject and the object, or the unified image? Alessio Larocchi eliminates both the object as a thing and the subject as a person, disintegrating their respective and reciprocal identities into many small physiosomatic fragments, and introduces us to the disorientations of the image. In these, Larocchi explores the secret spaces of interiority and memory, pursuing his own obsessions and inner mythologies. His works inhabit the uncanny, aspire to evoke a jolt, and open up to the unknown aspects of things, to their otherness, their silence, their solitude. Art exists if there is magic in things, if things retain their secret, but finding the magic in things requires the displacement of vision and a philosophy of transition.”
