Davide Furno, born in Biella in 1963, earned his diploma from the IED in Milan and worked for years as a graphic designer and advertiser, while nurturing his passion for craftsmanship, gilding, and water gilding. Over time, he became a true master of wax art.
Reviving an ancient and almost forgotten technique, he was the first in Italy, in 1996, to restore dignity and new life to ceroplastics. He studied the work of his mentor, Garnier Valletti, a wax modeler of flowers and fruits. This discipline, using animal and vegetable waxes, natural resins, gypsum, and powders, brings flowers and fruit to life. From a raw fruit, through 8 to 10 layers of whitening and varnishing, and approximately 8 weeks of meticulous work, he creates extraordinary compositions.
