Clara Woods, born on March 10, 2006, in Florence.
Her beautiful story:
“Hi, I’m Clara. I’m 13 years old and I don’t speak, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting to share my life with the rest of the world through painting. My mom is Brazilian, my dad is Dutch-Canadian, but I grew up in Italy, so I understand three languages.
Right now, Frida Kahlo is one of my idols.
In 2018, I exhibited my works inspired by Frida, my Muse, for the first time in Florence, where I was born! I’ve also shown my art in 30 exhibitions across three continents, and in 2021, Louis Vuitton displayed my work at Basel Art – Miami.
I love ice cream. I don’t have friends my age, and that really sucks for me. I want to become a mom to triplets and have a pool in my house.
When I was younger, I’d sneak into the kitchen to steal food, but now that I’m a teenager, I’m more interested in the whole Prince Charming thing. Painting is my way of sharing my inner world. I don’t think I’m different—I just use colors instead of words.
My life has been enormously enriched since I started my art career, and now it’s important for me to use my art to say that life can be rich, wonderful, and inspiring, whether you’re ‘normal’ or ‘different.’ Because, by the way: no one is different.”
“I am, for myself and for everyone: an ARTIST, DREAMER, and FIGHTER. Inclusion is important for all humankind.”
