Carlo Delli, born in 1963 – Photographer

The persistent echo of history. Cross-references. Expressive needs. The photographs of Carlo Delli primarily offer a reversal of perspective. They evoke primitive descriptions, with sharp and concise lines of absolute brevity. Yet, as Facchinelli might say, they contain an Expanded Time that captivates you, one that finds no legitimacy except in the deep basket of art.
Gianni Celati says that imagination is also part of the landscape: it puts us in a state of love for something out there… and then he continues… we are open to observation when we want to show others what we see. It is the connection with others that gives color to things.
This is precisely what happens when observing this series of images. On one side, restless shadows; on the other, a mirror of the world. It’s difficult to choose where to stand or what to look at. The photographer’s point of view captures the universe in an absurd miniature, where nothing resembles anything else. In another shot, the things of the world are there, floating in the light, coming towards us with millions of questions and implications.
Only with the right distance can one find the balance to understand that complex vision. It’s called awareness. It is the slow and relentless progress of who we are and what we stubbornly want to change and improve.
But perhaps it’s better to depersonalize the interpretations and start the journey anew, lighter. To let the eyes hold the primacy of discovery, allowing these indistinct forms, supported by patches of color, to unfold serenely on photographic paper.
Ecstasy finds rhythm. It is the articulation of creative energy, the secret and almost biological growth of forms. Without resorting to the illusionism of a philosophy without answers, Delli composes images with a precise order. Like a gold prospector, he sifts through the turmoils and filters the doubts of an entire life.
Thus, without answers and without certainties, he has managed to create a sort of inner map of feelings with time that has no center, vibrating and never still.
Meanwhile, in silence, something moves, passing through the forms of an entire life.
